Jeremy Bentham
Jeremy Bentham (1748–1832), founder of utilitarianism, is one of the most recognized political theorists. His belief was that morality was concerned with the idea of general welfare—that any political action should create and preserve happiness for the largest number of people possible. In legal matters, this meant that the law should be a tool which serves the interests of the majority.
