Cosmology is the area of science that studies the origin and evolution of the universe.

Although cosmology is most often concerned with physics and astronomy in the scientific world, it directly relates to a number of philosophical and theological views. The theories derived from cosmology do impact the philosophical world in return.

Cosmology is often considered to be a branch of metaphysics.
