John Stuart Mill
Mill (1806-1873) was a British economist and social philosopher. His work was largely based on the utilitarianism of Jeremy Bentham and his father, James Mill, but had a more humanitarian touch. He worked hard on logic and induction, stressing his belief in empiricism. John Stuart Mill sought many reforms, such as those illustrated in The Subjection of Women.
