Seventy-Four

The people do not fear death;
to what purpose is it to threaten them with death?

If the people were always in awe of death,
and those who do wrong were put to death,
who would dare to do wrong?

There is always an executioner.
For he who would inflict death in the room of him who so presides over it
Is as cutting wood instead of a master carpenter.
For he who undertakes the cutting, instead of the master carpetnter
will only cut his own hands!
